NBA Cafe Manila- blah!

What more overrated than a fancy sports bar!? NBA Cafe Manila.

To give justice to it, the place was neat and pleasant unlike other sports bar which are crowded, smelly and loud. NBA Cafe Manila ace the over all ambience of the place, classy, smoke free, and surprisingly quiet. Their interior is like of a regular fine dining restaurant but way cooler the NBA memorabilia brings a museum-y feel to it more over the staff were efficient and nice.

However everything stops being pleasant and classy when it comes to their food. Everything we ordered was either dry or bland.

My Tip:
Dont bring your BF if you want quality time, those HD flat screen TV at every corner plus the BIG one at the entrance made it hard  to maintain a conversation more so focus on the food.

You can take pictures of the place even of you are not dining just ask the front desk politely.

May taste:

Grilled chicken breast
(with vegetable medley, provolone cheese and avocado salsa)
- dry dry dry chicken was bland, I did not taste the avocado salsa it was like alfalfa infested burger :(

Cheese burger
(topped with gruyere cheese, lettuce tomatoes, onions, slice dill pickled and truffle oil)
- We ordered medium rare for the patty. I imagined the truffle oil over powering the burger taste but when I took a bite... Blah! Not only the patty was "malansa" but again I did not taste the truffle oil. Taste like your ordinary BIG MAC.

Bacon wrapped
(with grilled onions, jalapeƱos, bell peppers, mustard, ketchup, and Los Angeles inspired salsa roja)
- good thing: I love hotdogs! Their hotdog was juicy and I worship the bacon wrapped hotdogs.
Bad thing: the bun ruin it all!!! Dry and tasted cheap like your ordinary kanto bakery hotdog bun but worse because it was too hard to chew :(

-------

I decided to give it another try because I cant really judge NBA Cafe for just a few orders so we force and blackmailed Albert to treat us hehe love you fwend :)

Chicago style
(with yellow mustard, chopped onions, tomato, peppers, and sweet pickle relish)
- its a unique balance of sweet salty and savory but again... The bun ruin everything!!!

Creamy Macaroni and cheese
- its a kids meal expect small serving and sweet-salty taste.

Fries- ordinary.

Ground turkey
with cranberry chutney and Swiss cheese)
- whats worst than the the grilled chicken breast. Ground turkey!!
From its bread to its sauce: failed!
The turkey was unexpectedly juicy and tasty.

3 cheese
(mozzarella, cheddar, and blue cheese)
- crust was ok, 3 cheeses was ok yeah over all its was just PLAIN OK.

My say:  Battle ain't over yet! Maybe just maybe I haven't ordered their best food yet. Perfect for guys, if you have money to waste and wants to treat your BF this is the NEXT best thing... I mean next best place :)

Magnum cafe Manila

Magnum has an interesting advertising strategy from the start. It got the public's attention when celebrities keep on posting these boring plain big chocolate popsicles in instagram, no weeks had gone by without me unconsciously and curiously liking those curious boxes labeled Magnum.

If you prefer a sit down approach they do have a decedent dine in menu. I was aiming to try them all but once I noticed my burf tasted and smelled chocolate I knew it was the time to stop.

Menu:

My tip: they will squeeze you in the small couches so don't be to shy to speak up and tell them you want other seats.

10 to 15 min waiting time.

The ambiance of the place is screaming wannabe fine dining but loud running kids everywhere and all sorts of people just taking pictures here and there are a turn off. However its an ice cream place, its new and the prices are not snobbish so its bound to be like that.

Here are some actual pictures of the menu.

Fondue for two.
My treat for passing Makati Science entrance exam. Proud ninang.

Fresh out of the oven cookie dough. My all time fave. Good enough to share with my lovely talented friends. Albert and kristynne.

Jeff's red velvet. Nothing can go wrong with red velvet.

Death by chocolate. I died and gone to chocolate heaven. Fresh out of the oven goodness can kill you haha
